CAB & BOX DECKING STATION
This photo shows a cab and box decking station being lined up for placement on the chassis. Prior to the final placement of the cab and box on the chassis, the bodies are identified to the receiving chassis and the box is trimmed to the cab. Together, the cab and box are positioned over the chassis by servomotors that receive input from laser readings taken on the body mounts on the chassis. Upon the final positioning, the cab and box are placed on the chassis within 1.5 millimeters. No painted surface on the vehicle is marred during the entire decking operation. The customer had KCI integrate this equipment into existing assembly processes at four of their plants around the nation, making modifications as needed for each plant. KCI also developed and built other related assembly equipment important to the decking system.
