KCI, Incorporated works extensively in the automotive and fiberglass industries, designing, manufacturing and installing specialized industrial process machinery and equipment. We are currently looking to fill the following positions:
Field Project Manager | Mechanical Project Engineers | Mechanical Design Engineers | Industrial Fabricators/Welders
 

Field Project Manager

Position is based in Kansas City and travels to work on job sites as needed, works in Kansas City office otherwise.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Associates or B.S. degree in Construction Mgt, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering or related discipline.
  • 5 + years Industrial Field Project Management experience.
  • PMP certification a Plus.
  • Advanced time management, budgeting, written and verbal communication and analytical skills required.
  • Comprehensive ability to review, update, maintain and execute scope of work drawings and job plans.
  • Equipment planning and support in a production environment (automotive or fiberglass insulation).
  • Excellent client-facing written & verbal communication skills with diverse groups.
  • Proficiency in 3D Design software, AutoCAD (expert), Microsoft Office (expert), MS Project (expert).
  • 5 years working in Industrial Construction Environment.
  • 3 years experience with CAD systems.
  • Must have experience using scheduling software (MS Project) and be able to create and maintain schedules based on scope of work for various industrial construction projects.
  • Personal commitment to safety.

Duties will include:

  • Manage company expectations & customer interactions and expectations from pre-bid-project completion.
  • Create and maintain project budget, timeline, phase date requirements and completion date.
  • Assure proper permits, leases, insurance and client requirements are met on jobsite.
  • Monitor and control project with on-site Superintendent to ensure project is on schedule and budget.
  • Coordinate with Engineering department regarding any job questions or potential design modifications.
  • Conduct regular communication with Sales and Home office regarding project status.
  • Manage equipment suppliers from kickoff to installation including project schedule and budget to ensure smooth introduction.
  • Approve and code job invoices and submit timely to Accounts Payable.
  • Formulate written and verbal reports concerning areas of work progress, scheduling and costs.
  • Ability to meet demanding schedule and tight deadlines while ensuring highest level of safety and quality.
  • Ability to handle onsite logistics and some minor purchasing responsibilities.
  • Interface regularly with customers, subcontractors and project team effectively and timely.
  • Willing to work long hours for extended periods of time when job requires.
  • Willing to travel with short and advance notice to job sites.

Technical/Functional Responsibilities:

  • Distributing, filing and maintaining design documents, specifications, submittals, procedures, instructions, and vendor/supplier information.
  • Interpreting drawings, specifications and technical requirements as required for field personnel.
  • Reviewing design and budget documents for completeness and constructability
  • Coordinating with Engineering regarding design modifications, as appropriate to accommodate improved cost effectiveness of construction.
  • Responding to requests for information, non-conformance reports, and field instructions.
  • Actively managing job costs to budget on each job or perspective job from pre-bid to job completion.
  • Expediting resolution of any job manpower, supply or other job issue.
  • Receive and seek information from other project departments for planning, scheduling, and controlling the project in accordance with overall project objectives and budget.
  • Assure procurement activities including subcontractor/vendor bid packages and documents to support the bid process.
  • Set and conduct pre-bid and job meetings; take or assign meeting minutes and follow up as needed.
  • Organizing and coordinating turnover, procurement and start-up operations, and ensuring that these functions are performed as required on the project.
  • Coordinating with the client representatives to ensure compliance with job requirements and specifications.
  • Reviewing work priorities with Client to ensure all projects are aligned with Client expectations.
  • Complete all required job paperwork timely.

 

Mechanical Project Engineers

Experience and Skills Required:

  • 10 years experience in mechanical engineering field (Automotive or Fiberglass Insulation Production)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering and/or mechanical design.
  • Capable of conveyance system layout, Machine Design, Detailing parts
  • Works well as a member of a group or individually on small projects.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledgeable in: Electrical Controls, Structural Support Steel, Automation, Thermal Expansion, Production Facility Environment, Shop Fabrication Practices.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD 2D, Inventor 3D, Microsoft Office Products, Excel, Word, Project.

 

Mechanical Design Engineers

Experience and Skills Required:

  • 5 years experience in mechanical engineering field (Automotive or Production Environment)
  • Bachelors or Associates Degree in mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Capable of conveyance system layout, Machine Design, Detailing parts
  • Works well as a member of a group or individually on small projects.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledgeable in:Electrical Controls, Structural Support Steel, Automation, Thermal Expansion, Production Facility Environment, Shop Fabrication Practices.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD 2D, Inventor 3D, Microsoft Office Products, Excel, Word.

 

Industrial Fabricators/Welders

Current core work hours are 6AM-2:30PM Day shift and 2:30PM-11PM Night shift. Weekly pay! Pre-employment drug testing required. Steel-toed boots required. Benefits administered by Carpenter’s Millwright Union. Skills testing through Carpenter’s Millwright Union required to determine pay rate.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Prior MIG and TIG welding or experience required (Minimum of 1-3 years).
  • Or Prior industrial fabrication experience required (Minimum 1-3 years).
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing shop or machine shop required.
  • Strong understanding of industrial welding, metallurgy and coatings required.
  • Experience working on custom fabrication machinery.
  • Previous experience 2-4 years in industrial manufacturing needed.
  • Strong experience reading and accurately interpreting AutoCAD and Inventor drawings required.
  • Ability to read and understand industrial bill of materials required.
  • Must understand detailed manufacturing processes and assembly.
